So as it stands right now I am heavily invested in FG. I have spent a good chunk of money buying Savage Worlds settings and modules. A big complaint I have is buying the material two or three times.
For example. I like a book for my library, a pdf for portability and with FG I'm buying a third in game book for easy use and reference in my games. Now don't get me wrong the cost I feel is justified. FG does an excellent job of linking reference material, skills and abilities so players have easy linkable access to things like spell info and skill abilities.
How is skirmish vt, going to handle ingame reference material? Can i drop a PDF file into the game and create links? Will I again have to buy another copy of the rules book to use in game or will SVT even have in game rule books?
Also it looks like your pricing structure has changed? I keep seeing Free to Play?
I have purchased the ultimate license for FG. None of my players need to buy anything and can join my games by just downloading the demo version. Also i dont have to pay any monthly fees. I payed a heavy up front cost that will save me money over time and im happy with that.
How will SVT handle this? Will both players and dms have to pay monthly? I see your kickstarter has a few lifetime packages, but i can't seem to find a break down of what I'm getting into.
Lastly I love what you guys are doing... your VT looks amazing, and I'm super excited to have a go at it!!

Let's see.... first of all, as the core version of Skirmish! will be free-to-play, there is no risk at all for new users; so even if you are heavily invested in other VTTs, you can always afford checking out Skirmish! to see whether or not it suits your needs.
About the price model:
It's true that our price model has changed. We decided that for Skirmish! it would be much better to go free-to-play in order to attract a lot of users of which some will submit their own content (either free or through our store). This model ensures a quick growth of both the community as well as the amount of content such as maps, game set-ups & character sheets for the community to enjoy. Of course, at launch we will provide some set-ups and character sheets for popular RPGs ourselves (such as OGL based games like DND 5th) so you can start playing right away.
We are currently working on a chart which clearly lists subscriber features and compares them to free user features (the chart should be up on the ks preview within the next 2 days). Only the GM needs to be a subscriber to unlock all subscriber benefits for all players while they are connected to his/her server. We think that is a more than fair offer. There will also be a lifetime subscription we offer exclusively for kickstarter backers.
About games and PDFs:
The improved map import and the SK! world builder mentioned on the KS page will give you plenty of options to either import maps, data, etc. from PDFs or easily turn basic maps (which most PDFs provide) into something really fancy. If you have any other ideas on how to make importing PDFs easy here is the place to let us know.
Whether or not we may have entire core books of certain RPGs integrated into Skirmish! VT depends on the publishers. While we have reached out to some of them, at this moment it is too early to say what will come of it.
I hope this was helpful. Have fun trying the open beta & don't forget to grab the free content to make your start easier.
