Did you try using the map settings? There is a setting there where you can set the horizontal and vertical number of tiles the map has, but for it to work properly the map must be properly cropped using whatever photo editor to whole tiles (this is, you should not have incomplete borders around the actual map). We plan on adding this crop capability into skirmish itself though.
Hi cyderak, as we mentioned in our videos we know our importing method is not yet perfect, but one of our planned features is the expansion of the fog of war to incorporate a free draw mode... then any map can be imported without drawbacks.
Hi cyderak, for the map you just posted go to the map settings and enter a value of 30 for the vertical axis and 50 for the horizontal axis and your map will align perfectly with the Skirmish! grid. Have fun!
A couple of things that will instantly improve the grid are: 1. Provide an offset for vertical and horizontal position - unless the map grid happens to start at the top right edge there is no way to get the grids to overlay
2. Allow fractions in the grid scale - integers are frequently not precise enough to get grid alignment over the full extent of the map and can, therefore, be up to half a grid out at the extremes
Roll20 has a pretty good grid alignment system, once you learn the arbitrary keyboard shortcuts. Something like that with a UI as good as Skirmish's would be great. Just click on a couple vertices and say have many grid squares that represents and have it calculate from there.
Hi Simon, the idea with adding offsets could indeed be a good addition in general. Our future plan for the grid though, is the ability to draw the fog of war freely in cases where a map doesn't quite fit. This way you could draw around non-evenly shaped or complex objects as well but keep it snapped to the grid for where it does fit to keep it as simple to use as it is now.

This is something I look forward to!! Can't wait to see it!
